Origins and history of EDIBLE FOREST
Two distinct histories: the legal history of the association and the conceptual origins of the project
This page distinguishes two things that must not be confused: the legal history of the association loi 1901 (a French non-profit association under the 1901 law) that carries the project, documented by dated official publications, and the conceptual origins of EDIBLE FOREST, whose stages of thought are not dated.
Legal history of the association
The association has existed as a legal entity since 2014. It has changed its name several times, without changing its legal identity: the RNA W542001352 and the SIREN 803 052 711 have remained the same.

Name, purpose, registered office, bylaws and officers were declared on 6 September 2026 and officially registered: receipt issued by the Sous-préfecture of Brive on 8 September 2026.
The former names SPIRIT@MYSTIK, MYSTIKSPIRIT and EDIBLE FOREST are mentioned here only for historical purposes. They are no longer used as the identity of the project.
Conceptual origins: eight stages
No date is given in this part: the stages of thought are not dated and are not reconstructed here. Only the legal history above rests on established dates.
1. The original EDIBLE FOREST
Starting point: the possibility of enriching a territory with cultivable, reproducible and transmissible food resources, chosen for the nutritional and taste quality of their harvests. Status: retained as the generative principle.
2. EDIBLE FOREST SEEDS
The natural, reproducible seed becomes the concrete entry point of the proposal. Status: retained, as a central operational programme to be prepared.
3. Banks, protocols and envisaged territories
Successive hypotheses concerning territorial seed banks, protocols and territorial implementations. Status: corrected — the requirement for method and traceability is retained, the architectures envisaged are not retained as such.
4. World Seed Bank and Organization of World Unity
Two historical hypotheses of worldwide scope. Status: not realized and not retained as the current architecture.
5. Encounter with the necessity of African unity
The worldwide scale is abandoned in favour of an African ambition: African territories, their conditions and their responsibilities become the frame of the proposal. Status: retained.
6. Resumption of the 1963 OAU impulse
Conscious continuity with the founding impulse of the 1963 Organization of African Unity (OAU), without legal or administrative succession. Status: retained, without any claim of succession.
7. Intelligence → Savoir → Conscientization → Organization
Formulation of the way of thinking and acting: Intelligence and Savoir as conscious foundation, conscientization as process and method, organization as consequence. Status: retained.
8. Current synthesis
EDIBLE FOREST remains the generative principle and the purpose; the EDIBLE FOREST Organisation de l’Unité Africaine organizes the African ambition of this proposal, without being its origin. Status: current state, in the process of being structured.
