The forms described on this page are possible, progressive and revisable. They become real only after verification of their functions, resources, responsibilities and conditions for correction.

Questions and preparatory programmes

The following questions constitute the preparatory programme of EDIBLE FOREST SEEDS. They are presented in the envisioned working order. None of these stages is currently presented as an active experiment, and no result exists.

Progressive, traceable and correctable experimentation

Experimentation does not serve to confirm a promise. It confronts a proposition with the actual conditions of a territory and makes its consequences observable.

It begins at a scale proportionate to resources and risks. It is reversible whenever possible and remains suspendable when a dangerous, useless or unforeseen consequence appears.

Real contexts, not a network declared in advance

Status: Envisaged

A territory brings together its own living, human, historical, cultural, legal, climatic and material conditions. It is not a simple box on a world map.

Each territory retains responsibility for its resources, its decisions and the local consequences of any experiment. A method is not imported there without observation, adaptation and a clearly established function.

On this date, no list of countries should give the appearance of a constituted network. No African network exists. No territory has a standalone page unless a distinctive, documented and regularly updated reality justifies it.

Gabon, the first envisaged pilot territory

Gabon is the first envisaged pilot territory for the study of initial material forms of EDIBLE FOREST. Liberia is the envisaged second stage. Both fall under the Envisaged status.

This priority proves neither the existence of land allocated to the project, nor that of a centre, a seed bank, funding, a partnership or a result. Any future experiment in Gabon must publish its actual location, function, responsible parties, resources, authorizations, risks, observations and limitations.

A separate territorial page may be created once Gabon has real activity, its own content and verifiable updates. In the meantime, the information remains gathered here so that a priority is not turned into a fictitious location.

Experimenting for EDIBLE FOREST, not for experimentation's sake

Any future experiment serves EDIBLE FOREST’s purpose. EDIBLE FOREST begins with the possibility of enriching African territories through the identification, selection, acclimatization, reproduction and transmission of natural edible resources, particularly reproducible seeds and plants, chosen for the nutritional and taste quality of the harvests they can produce.

The central programme is EDIBLE FOREST SEEDS. It remains to be prepared. Gabon is the first envisaged pilot, Liberia the envisaged second stage; no site currently exists.

Only natural, reproducible seeds fall within the envisaged scope. Hybrid, genetically modified, sterile, non-reproducible seeds, or seeds requiring a new purchase every cycle, are excluded.

A future form dependent on a real function

EDIBLE FOREST SEEDS is the central programme devoted to seeds, in preparation. Its future territorial structures for conservation, experimentation, documentation or transmission are not constituted.

Its name proves neither the existence of a structure, nor a commercial activity, nor stock, nor a network. Its legal form, function, territory, responsibilities and resources will have to be defined before any public presentation as existing.

It will remain revisable and subordinate to the principles of territorial responsibility, traceability and correction.

Facts, data, limitations and corrections

When a real experiment begins, its public presentation will include at least:
